Language comes out of necessity. In such a sexualised world, there has been increased use of the term ‘asexual’ to describe experiencing little to no sexual attraction. A recent wave of asexual books gave me the language I needed to understand myself, communicate my experience to others, and find community.

These are the very books we discuss at the London Ace Book Club. Our introductory meeting was back in August 2022 and we have continued to meet once a month since.

Ace Book Club Stories is a project telling just some of the tales from the ace folks that have walked through the doors of Gay’s The Word bookshop in Bloomsbury, London, to discuss asexual representation in books.

I hope that, by telling these stories, I can add to the growing asexual representation on the internet and record some of the history of a book club that has become such an important part of my own life story.
